POWAY – The Connection Church – 14047 Twin Peaks Road Poway, CA 92064.  Working with the San Diego Food Bank for families who qualify with a 92064 zip code.  Contact info@gatheringplacechurch.org if you wish to volunteer.   Directions Volunteers needed in morning and afternoon.  The Connection Church site works with the SD Food bank – to view flier click here.  Fourth Thursday of the month.

RANCHO PENASQUITOS – Penasquitos Lutheran Church – 14484 Peñasquitos Drive San Diego, CA  92129. Serving families in need with children in the Rancho Penasquitos Schools.  Families come from 6-7 pm.  Volunteers needed throughout the month.  Directions Contact Bonita at perrbunny@cox.net before you go to sign up.  That way we can set things up ahead of time and it runs smoother.  Please see calendar for schedule.
** Please note – to volunteer at Penasquitos Lutheran March 22 you will need to enter through the back door by the kitchen.

 

 

POWAY – Resurrection Community Church – 12730 Elm Park Lane Poway, CA 92064  Serving specific families only from Pomerado and Midland Elementary.  Not open to general families to collect food at this time.  To volunteer contact Shell at  info@gatheringplacechurch.org Third Thursday of each month.

Directions (please park below the church on Silver Lake Drive – church signs mark it clearly on Silver Lake Drive just north after the Robinson Rd intersection)

Other Opportunities to Volunteer:


1)  Friends and Family Community Connection is the umbrella organization for Community Food and Prayer.  FFCC has provided excellent leadership, mentoring and hundreds of volunteer opportunities to respond to needs locally, nationally and internationally.  Visit http://ffccsd.org

2)  Mision Vida Nueva in Escondido has a weekly food distribution.  There are often 50 or more children and they are happy to have any helpers for the children’s ministry.  see http://misionvidanueva.org/english/ for contact information.

3)  City of Refuge – again every Saturday they do a food distribution. I know David and his wife Christina De Witt – wonderful people who sold their home in Vista area and moved downtown to live in a low income neighborhood.   You can contact them directly – phone number on their web page http://www.cityofrefugesandiego.net/

4)  The Arbors Senior Center – 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month 6pm – 7:30pm – join this team that ministers to local seniors click here to contact

5)  Backyard Produce Project - Collecting produce as well as opportunities to help in the community garden .  Contact jradatz@att.net
