HOW
Ministering to the Whole Person
During this monthly event, a large church meeting room is transformed into a mini grocery store. With the help of
volunteers, families “shop” for nutritious canned goods, milk, bread, fresh fruits, and vegetables – in part made available through charitable donations.
While some families shop, others meet with prayer volunteers. Relationships are established and many people receive prayer. We’ve seen physical healing and witnessed many people come to faith in Christ. Some families have become active members of local churches and others have returned as volunteers for CFP.
The Key to It All – Prayer
It’s easy for us to get distracted with our task, so it is vital that we first pray and worship together before we meet the families. This is a time to really focus on God’s heart for them. Pray a personal prayer to God asking for many to invite Jesus into their hearts through the outreach. Ask others to pray for you that God would give you confidence to share the Gospel with others boldly.
Connecting
God has made each person unique with different passions, spiritual gifts, and temperaments. As we tell people about God, we do it in different ways. Whether you are boisterous and animated or calm and quiet, God will use you to share His love with the families you meet. Remember that a smile goes a long way. We can be such an encouragement to others just by letting them know that God loves them and that our team is praying for them.
Asking these simple questions can get you started:
Did you grow up here in San Diego?
How many children do you have?
Do you have a Bible at home?
Would you like a Bible?
Would you like the prayer team to pray for you today?
You could be a part of reaching out to those in need – in our community – with food, friendship, and prayer. This is a growing outreach – creating a positive impact on Rancho Peñasquitos and is expanding to reach Poway as well!
