NORTH COUNTY — Fellowship Hall in Rancho Peñasquitos is a spacious and serene place, with its high, peaked ceiling and a tall wooden cross adorning a white wall. The large room, within a church, loses some of its serenity once a month when it serves as a collection point for a special food drive that serves an unlikely group.

Our difficult economic times and rising cost of living has made life difficult for many families. Whether a family has a working member or has experienced job loss, the pressures of finances greatly affect parents and children.

Nine local churches have partnered to provide a solution for these families in need. Once a month, they distribute produce and canned goods to families in need.

Families participating in the program are referred through the Poway Unified School District. When a school counselor or teacher notices a need, he or she contacts the ministry.
